Worrell Harvesting which runs under the Worrell Timber Group is a forestry Company that purchases large scale forestry in Ireland and process the timber into logs for sawmill . The rest of the tree is used for biomass and we are the biggest supplier of biomass in the country Worrell Harvesting has developed a significant body of knowledge and experience over the last 30 years undertaking some very large-scale Harvesting projects and programmes both in Ireland, France, Germany, and the UK.

The Worrell Brand is a trusted name among some of the largest sawmills in Ireland and the United Kingdom. Worrell Harvesting drives its business on offering the forest owner the most cost-efficient solution that will result in a significant increase in revenue for the forest owner while also maximizing the long-term development of the timber infrastructure of the owner’s forest. Financial Controller  

The person would be based in our offices between Portarlington and Monastervan for 1 year and then to our new offices in Axis business Park Tullamore 

Worrell timber Group are currently looking for an ambitious hands-on accountant who is not afraid to get stuck in. Reporting to both the MD and Commercial director of the company you will be analysing our performance, identifying profitable production/sales streams and capturing our costs of production to help us to reduce spending. The reports you will be responsible for will address the specific needs of the business across all its functions. It will be important to us that the successful candidate will be able to highlight in good time any variances to budgets so that we can adjust the business accordingly to new circumstances. Responsibilities  

Manage the financial operations of the business  

Implement and oversee all financial systems  

Preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances  

Monitor cashflow projections  

Monitor expenditure  

Oversee all accounting operations including billing, accounts, receivables and payable, WIP 

Preparation of timely monthly accounts  

Reporting financial matters monthly to the board  

Revenue reporting  

Responsibility for all payroll functions tax filings, VAT returns  etc 

Responsible for all CapEX processing 

Maintaining the general ledger accounts including capital assets, inventory and tax remittance  

Working with MD to implement new IT systems 

Updating Procedures and Task list as new systems are implemented 

What we are looking for  

Qualified accountant with 3 to 5 years experience in full cycle accounting  

Demonstrated knowledge of job or project costing  

Effective communication skills at all levels of a company  

Good mix of application experience such that the successful candidate can adapt quickly to the new environment 

Able to work efficiently as part of a team and also independently Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines 

Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures 

Attention to detail in all areas of work 

Strong accounting software knowledge  

Strong Excel skills  

Comfortable in high growth start up environment

Forest Manager

The Role The successful candidate will be required to manage the purchase of private standing timber, source new customers, carry out site surveys, mapping of new sites (Google Maps) manage the efficient harvesting, extraction and haulage of timber, carry out regular site inspections, control stock volumes on the forest floor and road side, and create site plans and effectively co-ordinate machine movement, machine operators and drivers. The ideal candidate should be a team player who can promote our new efficient biomass harvesting methods, liaise with new and existing customers, prepare contracts, procedures, and documentation relating to sites including harvest management plans, risk assessment & hazard identification as well as the preparation of paperwork for submission to the relevant authorities.

Requirements

  • A relevant third level qualification or qualification by experience
  • Full clean driving license
  • Excellent communication, administration and organisational skills
  • Good time management and ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Self-starter who is flexible and can manage their own time and workload.

Suitable applicant would be based in the Midlands but must be prepared to work all over the country. Company van and phone will be supplied.
